abstract Enterobactin analogs prepared from scyllo-inositol mono-orthoformate and having the following formula: ##STR1## wherein each X 1 , X 2 and X 3 , independently, is H, C 1-20 alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, C 7-20 aralkyl, or C 7-20 alkaryl; Y is H, C 1-20 alkyl, phenyl, naphthyl; C 7-20 aralkyl, C 7-20 alkaryl; --(C p H 2p )--CH 2 OH, --(C p H 2p )--COOH or its salt, --(C p H 2p )--NR 1 .R 2 or its salt, or --(C p H 2p )--N + R 1 .R 2 .R 3 ; in which p is 1-20 and each R 1 , R 2 and R 3 , independently, is H or C 1-5 alkyl; and m, n and o, independently, is 1-6; or the enantiomer thereof.
