abstract | A process for the production of an aromatic phosphorus-containing polymer, comprising (i) reacting phosphorus pentachloride with an aromatic dihydroxy compound and then reacting the reaction product with an aromatic monohydroxy compound, or (ii) allowing phosphorus pentachloride, an aromatic dihydroxy compound and an aromatic monohydroxy compound to react concurrently, to form an intermediate polymer, and then hydrolyzing the intermediate polymer, the above process being capable of giving an aromatic phosphorus-containing polymer in the absence of a catalyst for a short period of time at a relatively low temperature. |
