abstract A method of coloring hair in which there is applied to the hair a hair coloring preparation consisting essentially of a water based organic solvent free mixture of 0.01 to 10.0 percent by weight of a temporary dye color which is a water soluble acid dye, 0.1 to 10.0 percent by weight of a quaternary ammonium functional silane, the remainder of the mixture being water. The mixture is combed through the hair and the hair is allowed to dry without rinsing.
