abstract High molecular weight polyanilines are provided, along with synthetic methods therefor. The methods generally comprise mixing aniline, protonic acid, salt, and a polymerization agent at a temperature of from about -10° C. to about -70° C. Upon analysis by gel permeation chromatography, using polystyrene standards, the polyanilines of the invention provide a single peak, weight average molecular weight greater than about 200,000.
