A polyarylate film having optical isotropy and process for the preparation thereof are disclosed, in which the film satisfies the following relationship (1) and (2); W>=1000-70,000 T2(1) W>=850-70,000 T2(2) wherein the formula, T is a film thickness in mm and W is film width in mm, and the retardation value of the films (1) and (2) is not more than 20 n.m. and 10 n.m. over the whole range thereof, respectively. |
