abstract | 1,3,4-Oxadiazoles of the formula <IMAGE> are prepared by cyclization (dehydration) of the corresponding diacylhydrazines of the formula R1C(O)NHNHC(O)R2 with phosphorous pentachloride or phosphorous oxychloride wherein R1 is -CF2CF2CF2SF5, -CF2CF2SF5, or -CH2SF5 and R2 is -CH2CH2C(NO2)3, -CH2CH2C(NO2)2F, -CF2CF2CF3, -CF2CF3, -CF3, or -CH2SF5. The compounds are useful as plasticizers. |
