The invention concerns a phenolic resin. The resin is a liquid, contains phenol-formaldehyde, formaldehyde-urea and phenol-formaldehyde-amine condensates, and has a free formaldehyde content of less than 3%, this proportion being expressed as a percentage of the total fluid weight, and a dilutability rate in water which equals or surpasses 1,000%. Furthermore, the resin is stable when heated. Application to less-polluting sizing compositions for mineral fibers; and use of the fibers thus sized for the manufacture of insulating products and soilless cultivation substrates. |
