abstract A thermally-transferred color filter array element comprising a support having thereon a polymeric dye image-receiving layer containing a thermally-transferred image comprising a repeating pattern of colorants of an arylidene blue dye having the formula: <IMAGE> wherein: R1 and R2 each independently represents hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group having from 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group having from about 5 to about 8 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl group having from about 2 to about 8 carbon atoms, or a substituted or unsubstituted aralkyl group having from about 7 to about 14 carbon atoms; R3 represents hydrogen, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or alkoxy group having from 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, halogen, or a fused aryl ring; or R2 and R3 may represent the elements which may be taken together to form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring; X represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine; and n is 1 to 4.
