Peptides derived from three regions of the lectin binding region of GMP-140 have been found to selectively interact with "selectins", including GMP-140, ELAM-1, and lymphocyte homing receptor. The peptides can be as short as eight to thirteen amino acids in length and are easily prepared and modified by standard techniques. Critical elements of the counter-receptor or ligand on the neutrophils which binds GMP-140 are also identified. The peptides are useful as diagnostics and n The U.S. Government has rights in this invention by virtues of grants from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. |
