abstract A novel composition of a hydrolyzed protein together with a surfactant produces a proteinaceous film on the skin to retard moisture loss in cosmetic and toiletry products, such as after shaves, and cleansing lotions. The products retard moisture loss from the skin matrix, but the primary cleansing functions of the products, i.e., removing excess moisture and oil, are not inhibited.
