abstract A method and composition for controlling calculus formation in the mouth is reported based upon a combination of inorganic polyphosphates and certain low molecular weight copolymers. These copolymers are formed from a mixture of mono- and di-carboxylic vinyl monomers reacted with hypophosphite groups. Particularly effective are phosphorous containing acrylate/maleate polymers of weight averaged molecular weight ranging from about 400 to 5000.
