abstract |
The invention concerns a reagent for the detection and quantitative determination of leukocytes by measuring the myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity of biological samples, which is enough sensitive for disclosing even only a few leukocytes, without interferences caused by hemoglobin even in the presence of several erythrocytes, and suitable for photometric readings in the visible spectrum region. The reagent comprises a buffer, a chromogen, a surface-active agent, at least an alkali metal halide, a hydroperoxide compound and optionally a reaction promoter. The invention also relates to a method of using the reagent by splitting it into two component parts. |
