Compounds of formula (1) <CHEM> and their salts, wherein R<1> is a methyl, ethyl or isopropyl group each substituted by a hydroxyl group or R<1> is a group -(CH2nR7 or a group -CH(CH3)R<7> (where n is zero or 1 and R<7> is CHO or CO2H); Y<1> is -CH2-, Y<2> is -CH- and X represents <CHEM> [where R<2> is a hydrogen atom or a group OR<8> is a hydroxyl group or a substituted hydroxyl group having up to 25 carbon atoms) and R<3> is a hydrogen atom, or R<2> and R<3> together with the carbon atom to which they are attached represent >C=O, >C=CH2 or >C=NOR<9> (where R<9> is a hydrogen atom or a C1-8 alkyl or C3-8 alkenyl group) and the group >C=NOR<9> is in the E configuration] or -Y<1>-X-Y<2>- represents -CH=CH-CH- or -CH2-CH=C-; R<4> is a group OR<8> as defined above and R<5> is a hydrogen atom, or R<4> and R<5> together with the carbon atom to which they are attached represent >C=O or >C=NOR<9><a> (where R<9><a> is as defined above for R<9>); and R<6> is a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group. The compounds may be used to control nematode, acarine, insect or other pests. |
