abstract This cup is of the type composed of three spherical caps (2, 3, 4), namely: n an outer cap (2) made of a rigid material whose outer face is provided with radial roughnesses (11) designed for it to be attached in the acetabulum, n an inner cap (3) made of hard, biocompatible material with a low friction coefficient, n and an intermediate cap (4) made of a semi-rigid material, and in the outer cap (2) of which are cut out radially movable tongues (5) shaped like portions of spherical-cap sectors, defined by arcuate slots (5). n Arcuate slots (5) extend between two circles parallel to the opening plane (2b) of this cap, one of which slots is located near this plane and the other is located near the top (2c) of the cap, the ends of these slots (5) located near top (2c) of cap (2l also being connected, two by two, by partially annular slots (7) coinciding with the aforesaid circle which is located near the top (2c) of cap (2).
