abstract Disclosed is a process for the preparation of a sulphonylisothiourea of the formula ##STR1## wherein R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , X, Y and Z are as defined herein, which comprises reacting a sulphonic acid amide of the formula n n R.sup.1 --SO.sub.2 --NH.sub.2, (II) n n or a metal salt thereof, with an N-heteroaryl-iminodithiocarbonic acid, S,S-diester of the formula ##STR2## at a temperature between about 20° C. and 200° C. Intermediates and a process for their preparation are also disclosed.
