abstract There are described novel 2-[4-(5-chloro-3-fluoropyridin-2-yloxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acids esters and -thio-esters having a herbicidal action and an action reducing the growth of grasses, which compounds correspond to the formula I ##STR1## wherein Q is oxygen or sulfur, n R 1 is hydrogen or methyl n R 2 is hydrogen or C 1 -C 4 alkyl n The salts and enantiomers of these compounds are also part of the invention. n These compounds are suitable for selectively controlling weeds in crops of cultivated plants, and for reducing the growth of grasses.
