abstract A method for improving the quality of a mastic coating system by using a selected tiecoat composition. The tiecoat is applied to a substrate in order to correct substrate problems which would cause premature failure of a mastic coating applied directly to the substrate. The mastic coating is then applied to the tiecoat to yield a superior mastic coating system.
