abstract A built synthetic organic detergent composition, in particulate or patty form, results from extruding such a composition, containing water in sufficient quantity to form at least some hydrate from hydratable builder salt, and with enough free water present to plasticize the composition without resulting in separation of liquid and solid phases, and converting the extrudate to particles or lightly compressing it to pre-measured form-retaining patties or cakes. n Also within the invention are processes for making such particulate and patty products, and methods of washing laundry with them.
