titleOfInvention Analysis of bulk asbestos samples
abstract A process for determining the presence of the chrysotile form of asbestos in a bulk sample is provided. A small sample of a material suspected to contain asbestos is mixed with a phosphate buffer solution containing Clayton Yellow dye. The sample is then exposed to ultraviolet light. Fluorescence of the sample indicates the presence of chrysotile.
