abstract A secondary battery has positive and negative electrode members juxtaposed on a substantially identical plane. End faces of the positive and negative electrode members oppose each other at a distance. A substrate fixes and supports the positive and negative electrode members. A cover member defines, with the substrate, a sealed chamber includng the positive and negative electrode members. An electrolyte is sealed in the sealed chamber. The battery can be manufactured a through deposition of electrode materials.
