titleOfInvention | Novel androstane-17β-carboxylic acid esters, a process and intermediates for their preparation, compositions and method for the treatment of inflammatory conditions |
abstract | The invention refers to compounds having anti-inflammatory activity, characterized by the formula <IMAGE> (I) in the form of a stereoisomeric mixture or an epimer of the R or S type regarding the orientation of the substituents in the carbon atom at position 20, in which formula the 1,2 position is saturated or is a double bond, X1 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, X2 is hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine, R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 is a straight or branched hydrocarbon chain having 1-10 carbon atoms and R3 is hydrogen or a straight or branched chain alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms, a lower alkyl group substituted by 1-5 halogen atoms or an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or benzyl group, provided that when R1 is methyl R2 is a hydrocarbon chain having 2-10 carbon atoms. The invention also refers to a process and intermediates for the preparation of these compounds, a pharmaceutical preparation containing one of the compounds and a method for the treatment of inflammatory conditions. |
