An indole derivative represented by the formula: ##STR1## (wherein each of X 1 , X 2 and X 3 is a hydrogen or chlorine atom; X 2 is a chlorine atom and X 3 a hydrogen atom in the case where X 1 is a hydrogen atom; X 2 is a hydrogen atom and X 3 a chlorine atom or a hydrogen atom in the case where X 1 is a chlorine atom; and R 1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom, or a lower alkyl group), a plant growth regulator containing said compound as active ingredient, and a method for regulating plant growth which comprises applying said regulator. |
