A magnetic recording medium is disclosed comprising a support and a magnetic layer comprising a magnetic metal powder which is pre-treated by a process comprising (a) treating the surface of said magnetic metal powder with a surfactant in an inert atmosphere. (b) steeping said magnetic metal powder in an organic liquid, and (c) drying said magnetic metal powder in the presence of an oxidative gas. |
