abstract An alkali metal hydrogensulfite or sulfite is effective for controlling a local injury such as inflammation and vein injury occurring on the injection of an antitumor benzodiazepine compound of the formula <IMAGE> wherein R1 denotes hydrogen atom, or acyl, carbamyl, or alkoxycarbonyl group; R2 denotes hydrogen atom or acyl group; and R3 denotes sulfinic acid rest, SO2X, or sulfonic acid rest, SO3X, X meaning hydrogen, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. An aqueous solution containing the both can be administered by injection.
