abstract Described are oxobicyclononane derivatives and mixtures of same having the generic structure: <IMAGE> wherein X, Y, X' and Y' each represents the moiety having one of the structures: <IMAGE> wherein one of the dashed lines represents a carbon-carbon single bond and the other of the dashed lines represents a carbon-carbon double bond with the proviso that when X' and Y' are each the moiety: <IMAGE> then the dashed line at the "2-3" position is a carbon-carbon double bond and the dashed line at the "6-7" position is a carbon-carbon single bond and one of X or Y has the structure: <IMAGE> and the other of X or Y has the structure: <IMAGE> and with the further proviso that when X and Y are the moieties: <IMAGE> then the dashed line at the "6-7" position is a carbon-carbon double bond and the dashed line at the "2-3" position is a carbon-carbon single bond and one of X' or Y' has the structure: <IMAGE> and the other of X' or Y' has the structure: <IMAGE> and wherein R represents hydrogen, C1-C3 acyl or C1-C2 alkoxy carbonyl with the major portion of the mixtures defined according to the generic structure: <IMAGE> wherein one of X or Y is the moiety: <IMAGE> and the other of X or Y is the moiety: <IMAGE> with R being one of hydrogen, C1-C3 acyl or C1-C2 alkoxy carbonyl and uses thereof in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of perfume compositions, perfumed articles, perfumed polymers and colognes.
