Novel self-emulsifying alkoxylate esters are described having a cloud point of less than about 15 DEG C. the structural formula: <IMAGE> R1 contains from 2 to 20 carbon atoms and is selected from the group consisting of aliphatic and aromatic substituents and R3 is an alkyl or aryl substituent from 1 to 21 carbon atoms. One of R1 and R3 must contain greater than 8 carbon atoms. R2 is: <IMAGE> (a) <IMAGE> (b) x is from 1 to 10 and y is from 1 to 20 and the ratio of y to x is from 2:1 to 10:1. These alkoxylate esters are particularly useful in preventing the chalking of antiperspirant compositions containing volatile silicone oil by adding to the antiperspirant composition a chalking preventative amount of such ester. The compositions are also useful in a broad range of cosmetic compositions, and form stable oil-in-water emulsions at room temperature. |
