abstract | The invention is an improved process for the production of methylnitramine by nitrating dimethylurea with a mixture of sulfuric acid and nitric acid with subsequent separation of 1,3-dimethyl-1,3-dinitrourea by the use of a suitable solvent with recovery of a dimethyl dinitrourea in organic solvent, with hydrolysis of the dimethyldinitrourea with hot water to yield methylnitramine. |
