abstract An improvement in the process for the preparation of dispersed dyes of compounds of the formula ##STR1## where X is >O or >NH and R is C 1 -C 12 -alkyl, C 2 -C 6 -hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl of 3 to 12 carbon atoms in total, C 5 -C 8 -cycloalkyl, phenoxy-C 2 - or-C 3 -alkyl, phenyl-C 1 -C 4 -alkyl or phenyl-C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy-C 2 - or -C 3 -alkyl, by reacting a compound I where R is H with an amine of the formula R-NH 2 in a liquid under the influence of heat, wherein the reaction is carried out in water, in the presence or absence of a cationic or non-ionic surfactant. n Very pure dyes are obtained with a high space/time yield.
