abstract A description is given of new compounds of structural formula: ##STR1## in which R is alkyl and R 1 is H or alkyl; and a process for preparing these compounds starting from 1-methyl-5-nitro-imidazolyl-2-carboxyaldehyde and o-alkyl-phenols. n The new compounds are used as drugs for illnesses deriving from protozoa and anaerobic bacteria.
