abstract The process of producing a lower alkyl ester of phosphorochloridothioic acid by the chlorination of alkyl esters of dithiophosphoric acid in which the chlorine added after the addition of from 0.63 to 0.86 moles of chlorine per mole of phosphorodithioic acid is diluted with an inert gas. The disclosed process improves product yields, and purity, and advantageously provides for simple HCl recovery.
