abstract |
A water based coating composition that can be dried at ambient temperatures and is useful for coating metal or plastic substrates and in particular for finishing or repairing automobiles and trucks; the coating composition contains watersoluble organic solvent, binder and pigments; the binder is of (1) an alkyd of an esterification product of drying oil fatty acids, aromatic polycarboxylic acids and a polyhydric alcohol; (2) an alkylated melamine formaldehyde resin, (3) an acrylic dispersing resin and (4) an organo metallic drier; the improvement that is used with this composition is (1) a polyisocyanate such as the biuret of hexamethylene diisocyanate or isophorone diisocyanate and (2) an aqueous ammonia solution. |
