abstract The invention describes surgical drainage bags suitable for receiving body fluids and wastes. One aspect of the invention is a self-sealing bag of flexible film in which the opening may be sealed by stretching, relaxing and pressing the sides of the opening together. Another aspect of the invention is the incorporation of an absorbent product into surgical bags. The preferred embodiment embraces both these aspects. Suitable materials for the bag and the absorbent products are described.
