Polyalkylpiperidine derivatives which are unsubstituted in the 1-position of the piperidine ring and in the 4-position are bonded through a heteroatom bridge to an s-triazine radical, can be converted by reaction with a dihalide or a di-, tri- or tetraepoxide into compounds of the formula I ##STR1## wherein n is 2, 3 or 4 and p is 0 or 1. Polymer or oligomer compounds of the formula II ##STR2## wherein n represents the degree of polymerization and E and E' represent end groups, are obtained by reacting a triazine derivative which contains at least two polyalkylpiperidine substituents with dihalides or diepoxides. n Both types of compound are stabilizers for polymers, especially against damage by light. They are distinguished by low volatility and a low tendency to migrate, so that they are of special interest for use in thin polymer layers, for example in fibres, sheets or coatings. |
