abstract The invention relates to new chemical compounds and to processes for their preparation. The compounds according to the invention correspond to the formula R-X-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2NH2 (I) in which R is a saturated or unsaturated straight-chain C5 to C18 aliphatic radical and X represents -O-, -S-, -NH- or -CH2-, the salts, esters and quaternary alkyl ammonium salts of these compounds. These compounds may be used in particular as medicaments, as antiseptics, sterilizing agents and preservatives.
