abstract | Disclosed are compounds of formula I, <IMAGE> I in which X signifies hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, cyano, -COOM, -COOR1, -CONR2R3, -SO2NR2R3, -SO2R1, -SOR1, -SO3R1 or -SO3M, Y signifies hydrogen, C1-4alkyl, cyano, -COOM, -COOR1, -CONR2R3, -SO2NR2R3, -SO2R1, -SOR1, -SO3R1 or -SO3M, with the proviso that X and Y do not simultaneously have a significance selected from hydrogen and C1-4alkyl, R signifies an aryl radical, unsubstituted or substituted by up to two substituents selected from C1-4 alkyl, C1-4 alkoxy, chlorine, cyano, -COOM, -COOR1, -CONR4R5, -SO2NR4R5, -SO2R1 and -SO3M, R1 signifies C1-4alkyl or phenyl, R2 and R3, independently, signify hydrogen or C1-4alkyl, either R4 and R5, independently, signify hydrogen or C1-4alkyl, OR R4 and R5, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, signify a five or six membered heterocyclic radical, and THE M's, independently, signify hydrogen or a non-chromophoric cation, their production and use as anionic optical brightening agents, particularly for cellulosic and polyamide substrates. |
