abstract 1-Acetylaminotricyclo [4.3.1.1 2 ,5 ] undecane is prepared by reacting either (a) 1-substituted tricyclo [4.3.1.1 2 ,5 ] undecane, wherein the substituent is Cl, Br or OH, or (b) endo-2-hydroxymethyl-exo-2,3-trimethylenenorbornane with acetonitrile, in the presence of sulfuric acid. 1-Acetylaminotricyclo [4.3.1.1 2 ,5 ] undecane is useful as an intermediate to prepare antiviral substances.
