abstract A solar battery package having at least one solar cell substantially embedded in a block of fiber-reinforced thermosetting resin with a transparent flexible covering. The block has a portion, overlaying a light receiving area of the solar cell, which is transparent and has another portion which is either transparent or substantially opaque. A protective coating of fluorine-containing compound may be applied to the block to improve the weatherability of the solar battery package. A method of making the solar battery package is also disclosed.
