Methine dyes represented by the following general formulae (A), (B) or (C): <IMAGE> (A) <IMAGE> (B) <IMAGE> (C) wherein R1 represents an alkyl group (which may be substituted), an aralkyl group (which may be substituted), an aryl group (which may be substituted), a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic residue, a carboxyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryloxycarbonyl group or an amino group (which may be substituted); R2, R3, R4 and R5, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group (which may be substituted), an aralkyl group (which may be substituted), an aryl group (which may be substituted) or a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic residue, with R2 additionally representing a hydrogen atom; Z represents an atomic group necessary to form a heterocyclic nucleus containing a 5- or 6-membered hetero ring; Y1 and Y2, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group (which may be substituted), a hydroxyl group, an alkoxy group, an amino group (which may be substituted) or a sulfo group; L, L1 and L2 each represents a methine group (which may be substituted); l, n and p each represents 1 or 2 and m represents 1, 2 or 3. |
