abstract | This invention relates to compositions of the formula: ##STR1## WHEREIN N IS 0 TO 2 AND AT LEAST 1 AND NOT MORE THAN 2N + 2 OF THE A groups are ester radicals of the structure ##STR2## wherein R is a straight chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon radical containing 11 to 19 carbon atoms and at least 2 and not more than 2n + 3 of the A groups are ester radicals of the structure ##STR3## wherein m is 0 to 1. The composition is formed by reacting one mole of a mono, di- or tri-pentaerythritol of the formula: ##STR4## WHEREIN N IS 0-2 WITH 2N + 4 MOLES OF A MIXTURE OF MONOCARBOXYLIC ACIDS FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF (A) AT LEAST 1 AND NOT MORE THAN 2N + 2 MOLES OF RCOOH wherein R is a straight chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon radical containing 11 to 19 carbon atoms and (b) at least 2 and not more than 2n + 3 of HSCH 2 (CH 2 ) m COOH wherein m is 0 to 1. In the present invention it is preferred to react only one acid from each of the mercapto and the long chain fatty acid group members. However, more than one acid from each group member can be reacted if desired. |
