abstract The present invention relates to a disinfectant of the so-called iodophor-type, i.e. wherein iodine is complexed to a carrier. In accordance with the invention iodine is complexed to a carrier forming a three-dimensional lattice, kept together by covalent bonds, and being insoluble in water, but capable of swelling in water to form a gel. The new iodophor according to the invention can be used for technical, cosmetical and medical disinfection.
