abstract Alkanoyl isoindolinylmethyl alkylphenones of the formula, <IMAGE> e.g. 4'-(5-pivaloyl-2-isoindolinylmethyl)-pivalophenone, are prepared by reacting a 3',4'-bis(bromomethyl)alkylphenone with a 4'-(aminomethyl)alkylphenone-(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediyl)cyclic ketal and hydrolyzing the ketal formed, and are useful as hypolipidemic agents.
