abstract Inorganic-silicate-based compositions also comprised of an organic phosphonate and carboxy methyl cellulose are useful for inhibiting corrosion of metal surfaces, particularly steel, which are exposed to aqueous media. Inhibition is optimized when the surfaces are pretreated with a prefilming or passivating agent, then maintained with the above composition.
