titleOfInvention Process for biochemical reactions
abstract A process for carrying out a biochemical reaction by introducing reactants to the surface of a rigid, porous and absorbent silica foam substrate. Structure of the inorganic foam maintains optimum moisture and environmental conditions required for bacterial growth for biochemical reactions under both aerobic and anerobic conditions. Consequently, the invention provides means for treating water, effluent, sewage as well as for fermenting liquids containing carbohydrates.
