The tryptophanase of Proteus, Ervinia, Escherichia, Pseudomonas, or Aerobacter which can cause reaction of indole and 5hydroxyindole with serine to L-tryptophan and 5-hydroxy-Ltrypotphan can cause an analogous reaction with Beta -chloroand Beta -bromoalanine at a higher rate and with generally higher yields. |
