Certain new aminoacetylbenzo(b)thiophens, 1''-hydroxy-2aminoethyl benzo(b)thiophens and 1''-halogeno-2-aminoethyl benzo(b) thiophens are disclosed and claimed. The compounds have a low toxicity and display anti-5-hydroxytryptamine activity. This activity was determined by the method of Woolley, D.W., Proc. Soc. Exp. Biol. Med., 98, 367, (1958), these compounds giving from 50 to 100% protection against 5-hydroxytryptophan induced diarrhoea. Preferred formulations contain from 0.1 to 500 mg. of active ingredient and up to 3 g. per day may be administered. |
