titleOfInvention Apparatus for producing a foamed resin sheet in a curved diverging expansion zone
abstract The present invention relates to an apparatus for extruding a sheet of foamed thermoplastic resin, comprising a slit die orifice communicating with an expansion zone defined by a pair of opposing curved surfaces that may be cooled, one of the surfaces being convex and movable in a direction away from the slit die orifice and the other surface being concave, the curvatures and relative spacing of the curved surfaces with respect to each other being such that the space therebetween is at a minimum proximate the slit die orifice and then progressively increases in a direction away from said slit die orifice to a maximum at the other end of said expansion zone.
