abstract |
A process for the purification of terephthalic acid (TPA) by heating the TPA and a liquid medium in the presence of a Group IB, II-B or VIII catalyst to above 325*C followed by cooling of the heated mixture so as to crystallize the purified terephthalic acid. The heating above 325*C is preferably to a temperature such that no TPA remains as a solid. |
