titleOfInvention Prevention of deterioration of lead dioxide
abstract An electrode for a reserve battery comprising a metal strip having a first layer of lead dioxide deposited from a nitrate bath and a second layer of lead dioxide deposited from an acetate bath, the latter having been thermally treated to convert the same to a different allotropic form. The electrode has also been treated to reduce the amount of oxidizable material to less than 0.4 coulombs/in2 by an anodization process disclosed herein. The electrode is characterized by the ability to withstand storage at high temperatures for several months and remain substantially stable.
