abstract WHEREIN R1, R2, R3 and R4 are as defined hereinafter. Also disclosed is a novel method for obtaining certain of the disclosed pyrimidine nucleosides by direct glycosylation of trimethylsilylated 5-chloro-s-triazolo(2,3-a)pyrimidin-7-one, trimethylsilylated 5-methyl-s-triazolo(2,3-a)pyrimidin-7-one or bis-trimethylsilylated 7-amino-s-triazolo(2,3-a)pyrimidin-5-one with a 2,3,5-tri-O-acetyl-D-ribofuranosylhalide. Furthermore, a new method of providing 7-imino-3-(2,3,5-tri-O-acetyl- Beta -Dribofuranosyl)-s-triazolo(2,3-a)pyrimidine by the fusion of trimethylsilylated 7-amino-s-triazolo(2,3-a)pyrimidine with a 2,3,5-tri-O-acetyl-D-ribofuranosylhalide in the presence of a catalyst is disclosed. S-Triazolo(2,3-a)pyrimidine nucleosides use in the inhibition of tubercle bacilli are disclosed which have the following general structure:
