abstract Shaped carbon articles can be manufactured by first shaping vinylidene fluoride homopolymer or copolymers of vinylidene fluoride and fluorine-containing olefin with vinylidene fluoride as its principal constituent into desired forms, crosslinking the shaped polymer by a chemical reaction to render it infusible, and then carbonizing the same by heat-treatment.
